Vasilis Makris, MD

Dr. Makris is an ocular surgeon practicing general ophthalmology with a special interest in anterior segment surgery. Dr. Makris received his Bachelor of Science degree from Valparaiso University in northwestern Indiana, and his Master of Science degree in biochemistry from Loyola University of Chicago. He completed his medical degree studies at Indiana University Purdue University of Indianapolis (IUPUI). He served his internship at St. Vincent's Hospital on the north side of Indianapolis. He then completed his residency in ophthalmology at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. Some of the many honors and awards that Dr. Makris has earned include: earning the Peter V. Westheysen and Dr. Halstead S. Murat Academic Scholarships, serving as Chairman of his Graduate School Committee, receiving a Full Academic Assistantship, making the Dean’s Honor List, being selected for residency at Cambridge, England and Earning the Merit Award for Outstanding On-Duty Performance from the Valparaiso University Police Department. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the American Board of Eye Surgery. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Indiana University School of Medicine. His professional affiliations include being a: Member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Member of the American Medical Association, Board Member and Legislative Liaison for the Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology, Fellow of the American College of Eye Surgeons, Member of the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, Manuscript Reviewer for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Lecturer at National and International meetings on small incision cataract surgery, Member of the Indianapolis Academy of Ophthalmology, Member of the International Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Member of the International Paralympic Committee, Medical Officer with both the United States Association of Blind Athletes and the International Blind Sports Association.

Frances Cosgrove, MD

Dr. Cosgrove is an ocular surgeon practicing comprehensive
ophthalmology. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2001 where she received honors. She then received her medical degree from Indiana University Purdue University of Indianapolis (IUPUI) in 2005. She completed a transitional internship at St. Vincent's Hospital on the north side of Indianapolis and then completed residency training in ophthalmology at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.

Dr. Cosgrove is board eligible in Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and the Indiana Academy of Ophthalmology. She has presented research posters on the topics of glaucoma and macular degeneration at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology conference. Her practice emphasis is No Shot/No Stitch
